Steve,
Regarding the weep holes, due to the changing field conditions during construction and the retrofitting of the
footing, it is difficult for us to pinpoint the finished grade on the face of wall. The finished grade shall cover the
footing with a minimum 1’ cover and weep holes a minimum of 3” above the finished grade. It is our intent to
match the existing grades prior to construction of the footing/wall.

The footing width will be the same as a 6 ft high wall because the steel is on site
The footing will be stepped up at what was placed yesterday 1 Ft and then another 1 Ft step up at the next section to the
bridge
There will be very little face of the wall showing with the existing and finish grade at 1'-6" below the top of the wall near the
power pole
That brings up the weep hole elevation question again--Can you give us a finish grade on the ROW side of the wall and we
will place the weepholes at 6" plus---THIS placement will be tomorrow !
What about my RFI about the Coppell Rail Ht on the bridge? It should be 3' 6"--CORRECT??

Dean,
We don?t see any issues with adjusting the wall footing to minimize excavation near conflicts. Please ensure
that steel and footing sizes for the wall match revised wall height.

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
Project:Bethel Road
RFI No:17
Date:September 28, 2010
Subject:South Retaining Wall
Reference Drawing:GR-1
INFORMATION REQUESTED:
1.The last 60 linear feet of the south retaining wall encroaches upon a telephone guy wire, a
telephone pole, and a water line manhole. In conversations JRJ and North Texas Bridge have
had with Oncor representatives, it has been determined by Oncor that the depth required
for the retaining wall could potentially cause a hazard if excavated the full depth. We are
requesting raising the footing to match the repair height footing, 1 foot, to minimize the
excavation near the guy wire and telephone pole. The footing still will be covered with 2 to
3 foot of dirt after raising. We would like your permission to make this change.
