Keith
The savings would be in the concrete and a bar splice which is minimal and another set of forms 5 Ft tall instead of 4 Ft
Reduce the unit price on the bridge rail section by $ 10 per LF which is approx 256 LF for a savings of $ 2,560
I would agree to this reduction in unit price, provided it is OK with Dean Dumke and JRJ Paving
Thanks

Gentlemen, The plans are clear on the rail height. We would consider reducing the height per your suggestion
provided there is an appropriate cost reduction. Please provide a credit change order proposal to accompany this
request. Keith Keith Marvin, P.E. Project Engineer (972) 304-3681 >>> 9/27/2010 1:16 PM >>> ----RFI # 16
BRIDGE RAIL HT I have a question on the Br Rail Ht shown as 4'-6" in the plans---The Coppell Rail is 3'-6"
and thats what we are installing on the retaining walls All the bridges in Coppell now have the Coppell Rail and
are all 3'-6" tall to match what we will have on the retaining walls 3'-6" appears to be the correct HT for the
bridge rail not 4'-6" PLEASE CONFIRM!! Steve Goodman NTBC -Original Message----- From: Caleb

Steve,
Regarding the weep holes, due to the changing field conditions during construction and the retrofitting of the
footing, it is difficult for us to pinpoint the finished grade on the face of wall. The finished grade shall cover the
footing with a minimum 1’ cover and weep holes a minimum of 3” above the finished grade. It is our intent to
match the existing grades prior to construction of the footing/wall.

The footing width will be the same as a 6 ft high wall because the steel is on site
The footing will be stepped up at what was placed yesterday 1 Ft and then another 1 Ft step up at the next section to the
bridge
There will be very little face of the wall showing with the existing and finish grade at 1'-6" below the top of the wall near the
power pole
That brings up the weep hole elevation question again--Can you give us a finish grade on the ROW side of the wall and we
will place the weepholes at 6" plus---THIS placement will be tomorrow !
What about my RFI about the Coppell Rail Ht on the bridge? It should be 3' 6"--CORRECT??

Dean,
We don?t see any issues with adjusting the wall footing to minimize excavation near conflicts. Please ensure
that steel and footing sizes for the wall match revised wall height.

Keith & Caleb,
Per my discussion with Caleb this evening after speaking about site striping, attached is the RFI 017 regarding
raising s wall footing to minimize excavation near telephone pole and guy wire.
Thank you,
