Ken,
I hope that your missionary trip was a success and that you returned in good health.
In response to your telephone call, I contacted Mr. Mike Renfrow in the District Planning office at TxDOT to see
if there had been any progress on the preliminary design of a frontage road for westbound I.H. 635 between Belt
Line Road and Royal Lane since our meeting on July 30.
Mike reported that he has been able to progress on the design, but, did not yet have a schematic drawing
available. He discussed two particularly difficult issues that need to be resolved before work can progress much
further. Briefly, those issues are: (1) what to do about Gateway Blvd. to maintain its current function of two-
way access to certain properties, and (2) right-of-way limitations aggravated by very tight proximity of Gateway,
Fritz, and Dividend Drive to the existing right-of-way will make it very difficult if not impossible to construct a
basic three-lane frontage road with a drop-in/drop-out lane for ramps.
Mike would be more than happy to discuss the project with you and welcomes your input.
You may contact Mike Renfrow at 214-320-4472 or by email at Mike.Renfrow@txdot.gov .
