Thank you for forwarding me your estimate. We are also preparing one using the unit costs for our current
non site contractor.
TxDOT is not using the flashing yellow on the state system at this time.

Melanie, Dan and Ken,
Attached is our detailed cost breakdown for a signal system for the I.H. 635 at Royal Lane Interchange
including signalization of Gateway Blvd.. Our estimated total cost, as you can see, is $163,000 using a
single controller. We have not removed that portion controlling Gateway Blvd., which is what we
concluded needs to be done at Tuesday's meeting, and revised the estimate. At least this will give us a
starting point.
Note that, depending on TxDOT current practice, we would consider the use of 4-section heads with
flashing yellow arrow en lieu of 5-section heads; the cost savings is not significant, but, we are finding
wide acceptance of the flashing yellow arrow and are using it routinely now.
