Submitted herewith are results of our analysis of water pressure injection conducted at the above
referenced lots. Our analysis consisted of sampling soils after water pressure injection to a depth of
10 ft and performing moisture content, pocket - penetrometer and free swell tests on
representative samples. Sampling of the injected soils using test borings was performed on
December 15, 2005 (Borings 1A -8A). Please note, these borings were performed on lots that
initially failed, have been re- injected and then re- tested as reported herein. The test borings were
performed at the approximate locations tabulated below (see Table A) to obtain samples of the
injected soils for laboratory testing.
According to the project geotechnical report (ALPHA Report No. G05335 dated May 10, 2005),
acceptance of water pressure injection should be based on improving the subgrade conditions in the
injected zone sufficiently to reduce the average free swell of soils within the injected zone to 1% or
less.
Based on results of current moisture content tests and absorption swell tests, it is our opinion the
existing subgrade at the lots indicated in Table A as "Pass" has been sufficiently improved and the
average free swell of soils within the injected zone is 1% or less. Therefore, it is recommended the
water pressure injection be accepted at these lots. It is recommended plastic sheeting be placed over
the top surface of the injected soils for long -term maintenance of the current moisture condition of
the soils.
However, based on results of current moisture content tests and absorption swell tests, it is our
opinion the existing subgrade at the lots indicated in Table A as "Fail" does not conform to the
project criteria of reducing the average free swell of soils in the injected zone to 1% or less.
Therefore, it is recommended the soil swell potential at these lots be further reduced by additional
water injections.

Based on results of current moisture content tests and absorption swell tests, it is our opinion the
existing subgrade at the lots indicated in Table A as "Pass" has been sufficiently improved and the
average free swell of soils within the injected zone is 1% or less. Therefore, it is recommended the
water pressure injection be accepted at these lots. It is recommended plastic sheeting be placed over
the top surface of the injected soils for long -term maintenance of the current moisture condition of
the soils.
However, based on results of current moisture content tests and absorption swell tests, it is our
opinion the existing subgrade at the lot indicated in Table A as "Fail" does not conform to the
project criteria of reducing the average free swell of soils in the injected zone to 1% or less.
Therefore, it is recommended the soil swell potential at this lot be further reduced by additional

Submitted herewith are results of our analysis of water pressure injection conducted at the above
referenced lot. Our analysis consisted of sampling soils after water pressure injection to a depth of
10 ft and performing moisture content, pocket - penetrometer and free swell tests on
representative samples. Sampling of the injected soils using a test boring was performed on
January 26, 2006 (Boring 8C). Please note, Boring 8C was performed on a lot that failed three times
before, has been re- injected and then re- tested as reported herein. The test boring was performed at
the approximate locations tabulated below (see Table A) to obtain samples of the injected soils for
laboratory testing.
According to the project geotechnical report (ALPHA Report No. G05335 dated May 10, 2005),
acceptance of water pressure injection should be based on improving the subgrade conditions in the
injected zone sufficiently to reduce the average free swell of soils within the injected zone to 1% or
less.

Submitted herewith is a summary letter regarding results of in -place field density tests conducted
on both natural subgrade and recent fill soils placed at the project referenced above between
August 2005 and April 2006. This information is provided to comply with recommendations in
the Geotechnical Exploration reports for the project (ALPHA Report No. G05335 dated May 10,
2005 and ALPHA Report No. G05335 -2 dated June 24, 2005), Housing and Urban Development
specifications, and our interpretation of the intent of FHA Data Sheet 79g. It should be noted
that any retaining wall backfill that would encroach on building pads or other new fill placed
within building pads should have additional field density testing.
In -place field density tests have been conducted routinely at selected locations on both natural
subgrade soils and fill soils placed during earthwork operations within the proposed building pad
area for lots indicated on the "Grading Plan" Sheets 22 to 24 dated December 28, 2005 for
Hemingway Court as prepared by Spiars Engineering. Inc. Each field density test was conducted
using a nuclear density device in accordance with applicable ASTM specifications. Standard
Proctor compaction tests have been conducted on the predominate soil types observed on the site
for correlation with the in -place density test. Results of field density tests were submitted to the
Client shortly upon completion of the testing.
Field density tests results have been compared with specifications for soil compaction outlined in
the Geotechnical Exploration report for the project (re: ALPHA Report No. G05335 dated May
10, 2005) and our interpretation of the intent of FHA Data Sheet 79g. Results of our review of
these density tests indicate the fill at the specific test locations is compacted in accordance with
the applicable recommendations in the Geotechnical Exploration report for the project and those
in FHA Data Sheet 79g.

The recommended depth of subgrade improvement for pads in Zones I and II as identified in the
Geotechnical Exploration reports (ALPHA Report No. G05335 dated May 10, 2005 and ALPHA
Report No. G05335 -2 dated June 24, 2005), were completed during earthwork operations. Plastic
sheeting was then placed above the improved soils to maintain the moisture contents. Based on
the completed subgrade improvement, slab -on -grade foundations for the proposed residences
(Block A; Lots 1 -12, Block B; Lots 4 -6, Block C; Lots 7 -9, Block D; Lots 1 -11 and Block E;
Lots 1 -8) in Zones I and II may be designed considering potential soil movements of 4.5 inches
while slab on grade foundations for the planned townhomes (Block B; Lots 1 -3, Block C; Lots 1-
6, Block E; Lots 9 -18, Block F; Lots 1 -7, Block H; Lots 1 -20, Block J; Lots 1 -20, Block K; Lots
1 -5, Block L; Lots 1 -5 and Block M; Lots 1 -5) can be designed considering potential soil
movements of 2 inches. This letter is no way a guarantee or warranty of the work product of the
grading contractor.
