Re: Traffic Calming on Fallkirk Drive
Dear Coppell Greens Resident:
The City Engineering Department has been contacted in regards to problem speeding along
Fallkirk Drive. The City has tried increased enforcement and placement of the "Radar trailer"
but the problem still exists, mainly due to these solutions only being temporary in nature. On
February 26, 2010 a speed study was conducted at Fallkirk Drive. The results of the study
concluded that the street would qualify for speed cushions. The Engineering Department has
also received a positive response from both the Police Department and Fire Department for this
proposed installation.
The placement of speed cushions necessitates that residents along the roadway also travel across
the humps. Therefore, strong support from the neighborhood is necessary before the installation
of road humps could be considered. The City seeks to obtain approval of 75% of the residents in
the area prior to proceeding with the process (see enclosed exhibit showing the number and the
location of the residents receiving this letter). If 75% of the residents who receive the survey
respond in a positive manner, the City will then proceed to install the speed cushions as the
budget allows.
To provide us a better understanding of your preference in the matter, please check one of the
