Denton Tap Water Line
We need permission from the owners of the parcel immediately north of Dairy Queen to go on the
property and construct a bore pit for the installation of the 8 -inch water line and fire hydrant. I
have been working with Gene Gaddy on obtaining permission. He has no problem with giving us
permission, however he has asked about an 8 -inch sewer line that crosses under Denton Tap.
Apparently, he paid to have an 8 -inch sewer line extended to the west side of Denton Tap as part of
the Denton Tap improvements constructed in the late 1980s. The line was to serve future
developments. When the 8 -inch sewer line on the east side of Denton Tap was replaced with the
15 -inch sewer line in 1995, the 8 -inch line under Denton Tap was never connected to the new 15-
inch line. The manhole tying the 8 -inch stub -out to the 8 -inch line was abandoned (filled with
broken concrete and dirt). The Dickeys development was supposed to tie into the stub -out but
ended up boring under the road. Mr. Gaddy then paid to have the manhole cleaned out. He also
thought that the city televised the line.
The Mercantile development has since gone in on the east side. I checked the plans and talked to
Rick about the manhole. The plans showed both of the manholes but did not indicate which was on
the abandoned line and which was on the live line. Once the connection was made to the live line,
the manhole on the abandoned line and tied to the stub -out was covered with concrete and is under
an existing drive.
The proposed Embroidery development that is going in on the west side is going to bore under
Denton Tap with a 4 -inch service.
Permission to bore on Mr. Gaddy's parcel is the only thing holding up completion of the WA 97 -01
plans. Since he brought it up, I am sure that he wants an answer on what happened to the manhole
and stub -out before he will sign the letter of permission. How do you want to proceed with Mr.
Gaddy?

Dear Mr. Gaddy:
As follow -up to a conversation with you after one of the Coppell
Council meetings some time back, you mentioned the possibility
of extending sewer to the west side of Belt Line Road as part of
the above referenced project. This, you said, will allow for
easier and cheaper access to City utilities in the future when
your tract on the west side develops.
If you wish to have the work performed and are willing to pay
for it, it is our recommendation that you advise the Coppell
City Council of your desires so they can issue direction to us.
