I left a voice mail for Mr Lefforge today concerning the status of the project. The staff person I have
working on this has told me the plans are about 90% complete. We have spoken with Dallas County
about performing the work for us and they asked us to provide the plans before they could respond to our
request. The plans were mailed to Dallas County on January 12, 2005.
We are currently using the County on several projects along Sandy Lake Road. The reason we like to use
the County is that they bid a yearly contract for County wide projects and typically receive a better pricing
than we do. Also, by using the County we do not need to bid the project. This saves several months. As
Keith noted in his email to me, if the County can not perform the work we would need about a month to
complete the plans before we can go out to bid. The bidding takes about 3 -4 weeks and then we need to
schedule it for a Council meeting to award the work.
I will update you once we have heard from the County concerning their ability to perform the work for us.
If you have any additional questions, I can be reached at 972 - 304 -3686 or kgriffin @ci.coppell.tx.us.

The plans stand at about 90% complete. I sent them to the county last week to see if they will perform the
work, and if so what the cost would be. If they are willing to perform the work, it will be completed on their
schedule.
If the county is unable, or unwilling to perform the work, we will need to finalize the plans and specs and
bid the work. I would expect this to take about a month to complete.

City Manager and Assistant City Manager,
Late last summer I made inquiries into our water drainage problems here on Oakcrest. I was very pleased
with the immediate response. However, we are rapidly approaching the six month anniversary of our first
contact, and nothing has been done.
Other than the occasional visitor, which I can only assume are city engineers and representatives, we
have had absolutely no communication from your office or any represented office regarding the disposition
of this project.
I would very much appreciate getting a since of your timeline and intentions. My experience in
engineering, excavation, and fluid mechanics, though very minute, indicates to me that this is going to be
a relatively significant project.
Please communicate to me the city's plans here and the status of those plans.
Thank you for your reply.
