ST1001-CS110317March 17, 2011 RE: Royal Lane @ 635 Intersection ST #10 -01 Notification of Construction For some time now, the Texas Department of Transportation ( TXDOT) has been working with the cities of Irving and Coppell concerning the signalization of the intersection of Royal Lane with I1-1635. The City of Coppell has been notified that work on that signalization will begin during the week of March 21, 2011. The project itself includes the signalization of the frontage roads at Royal and IH 635 and the extension of a median across the intersection of Gateway Blvd. where it intersects Royal Lane on the north side of IH 635. The extension of the median across Gateway will prevent vehicles from turning left off of Gateway to access IH 635. Because of this future restricted movement, attached to this letter are several alternate route suggestions for vehicles leaving Gateway Blvd. and trying to access IH 635. The following is a brief description of the alternate routes shown on the two enclosed exhibits: Alternate #1- Turn right off Gateway onto Royal Lane, proceed to the median opening at the driveway for Park `N Fly, make a U -turn and head back towards IH635 and then proceed east or west onto I1-1635. Alternate #2- Turn right off of Gateway onto Royal Lane, proceed to the intersection of Royal and Bethel, turn left onto Bethel Road to access State Highway 121 to go either north or south. State Highway 121 also provides direct access to IH635 headed east. Alternate #3- Turn right off Gateway onto Freeport Parkway towards I1-1635, and then proceed east or west onto I1 The restriction of left turns out of Gateway onto Royal Lane was necessary from a safety perspective when installing the traffic signal at the Royal and IH635 frontage roads. While the elimination of the ability to turn left out of Gateway onto Royal will be an inconvenience, the intersection as a whole will be much safer for the traveling public. If you should have any questions concerning this TXDOT project, or any future modifications that could take place in this area, please contact me at your convenience. Sincerely, Kenneth M.
