Dear Steve,
The proposed relocation of Belt Line has really
been a hot issue. You are right, consideration of
an alternate location should have been made years
ago. This is another indication that the county
needs to be better staffed for transporation
plannin~ and not just responding.
However, the issue is now and not then. The fac-
tors of the issue can not be ignored. The facts
are not clearly identified because of disagreements
between engineers. We are attempting to sort them
out so decisions can be made.
I assure you I am anxious to get the project on
the road. But, I also want to do it right. This
road will be there long after I am gone. Future
generations will be affected by decisions made now
both by the function of the road and by paying for
the 20 year bonds. So, I am taking it very
seriously.
