CITY OF IRVING
COUNCIL RESOLUTION NO. 1-9-86-
WHEREAS, the Belt Line Road/Interstate Highway 635
intersection is presently operating at a poor level of service,
and the Interstate Highway 635 and Belt Line Road traffic inter-
changing at the intersection is daily increasing at a rapid
rate; and
WHEREAS, the Interstate Highway 635 and Belt Line Road
traffic volumes are daily increasing at a rapid rate; and
WHEREAS, Belt Line Road in the City of Irving, south
of Interstate Highway 635, is currently funded in the Federal-
Aid Urban System Program to be improved to a six-lane divided
thoroughfare by the State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation; and
WHEREAS, Belt Line Road in the City of Coppell, north
of Interstate Highway 635, is currently funded by said City and
Dallas County to be improved to a six-lane divided thoroughfare;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Coppell, by
Resolution NO. 100985.4, requested the State Department of High-
ways and Public Transportation to fund and improve the bridge at
Belt Line Road and Interstate Highway 635 to accommodate a six-
lane divided thoroughfare design; and
WHEREAS, the Dallas County Commissioners Court, by
Dallas County Commissioners Court Order Number 85 1822, request-
ed the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation to
fund and improve the bridge at Belt Line Road and Interstate
Highway 635 to accommodate a six-lane divided thoroughfare de-
sign; and
WHEREAS, the City of Irving has concluded that the
bridge at Belt Line Road and Interstate Highway 635 must be
improved to accommodate a six-lane divided thoroughfare design
as soon as is practicable;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF IRVING, TEXAS:
SECTION I. THAT the City of Irving requests the State
Department of Highways and Public Transportation
to fund and improve the bridge at Belt Line Road
and Interstate Highway 635 to accommodate a six-
lane divided thoroughfare design.
SECTION II, THAT this Resolution shall take effect from and
after its final date of passage, and it is ac-
cordingly so ordered.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IRVING,
TEXAS, this 9th day of January, A.D., 1986. ~
