Recently I had a brief discussion with your utility
subcontractor, Hurray Construction, regarding trench safety
measures to be implemented on this project. The trench safety
provisions of the contract are extremely important and site
specific as explained in Section 2C of the contract. Please
insure that the utility subcontractor is familiar with all the
trench safety requirements of the contract and in particular
those provisions regarding submittal of the trench safety system
which the contractor desires to utilize.
The construction commencement date is April 10, 1989 although you
are requested to proceed as soon as possible. The contract time
is 120 calendar days. The contract due date is August 7, 1989.'
This contract due date is extremely important. The constructed
roadways will be used by faculty, students and staff members of
the new Coppe11 High School as their only access when school
opens in August. Prior' to the opening of the school, the
constructed roadways will be used to transport furniture and
other materials to the school site. Therefore, Parkway Boulevard
and the.High School Access Road must be made available for use as
soon as possible. The understanding and cooperation of h. H.
Lacy as to the importance of these roadways to the new High
School is requested and appreciated.
I will contact you in the next few days in order to set up a
meeting at the site with you or the pro~ect manager, and with Hr.
Steve Morton - inspector for the City, the soils and testing
engineer, and the surveyors. I am looking forward to working
with L. H. Lacy on this pro~ect. Please call if you have any
questions.
