Northlake WE P1-6-CS 970425 April 25, 1997 Caldwell & Darlene Colt 760 Cardinal Coppell, Texas 75019 RE: Unauthorized discharge into the City's sanitary sewer system at 760 Cardinal & 756 Cardinal Dear Mr. & Mrs. Colt: This letter is written as a follow-up to my October 4, 1996 letter and our October 8, 1996 telephone conversation concerning infiltration into the City's sewer system at the referenced addresses. The City recently retested the referenced locations and found that the problem still exist at both 756 and 760 Cardinal. The detail notes that I received indicate that at 756 Cardinal a cap needs to be installed on the drain by the front door where the down spout drains. The notes on 760 Cardinal show that a cap needs to be provided on the drain by the north corner of the house where the downspout drains. I am unsure if the notes indicate that your downspout is tied into the drain or just that the existing cap is missing. If the existing cap is missing, it is a very inexpensive item to obtain and install yourself. Last year while the City smoke tested my neighborhood, I received a note on my door that the cap on my drain was damaged. I was unaware as it was buried beneath bark mulch in my flower bed. However, to correct the problem took just a matter of minutes. Again, I respectfully request that this item be corrected in a timely fashion. The previous letter provided you with a copy of the City's Code of Ordinance that specifically points to any connections to the City's sanitary sewer system. Please correct the problem or respond to the City within fourteen days from the date of this letter with a timeline of when the correction will be made to the referenced properties. Thank you for your consideration and if you should have any additional questions please feel free to contact me at (972)304-3679. Sincerely, Kenneth M. Griffin, P.E. Johnson 627 Havencrest Lane Coppell, Texas 75019 RE: Unauthorized discharge into the City's sanitary sewer system at 627 Havencrest Lane Dear Mr. Johnson: You may recall that on October 4, 1996, the City provided you with a letter indicating that smoke testing of your neighborhood revealed an unauthorized inflow from your property to the City's sewer system. We did speak and meet on this issue following your receipt of the letter. This area has been retested to determine if the problem has been corrected. The resmoke testing of the area revealed that the downspout by the front door in the west corner of the house is still tied to the City's sanitary sewer system. Please be advised that this connection is not allowed by the City of Coppell. Previously a copy of the City's Code of Ordinance was provided that specifically points to the fact that roof drains are not allowed to be connected into the City's sanitary sewer system. The City has been very patient in allowing you time to correct the unauthorized connection. Our goal is always to eliminate the problem. The City respectfully requests that the connection be eliminated as soon as possible. The City also requests that this office be contacted within fourteen days from the date of this letter to provide a timeline of when the connection will be removed from the City's sanitary sewer system. Thank you for your consideration of this request and if you should have any additional questions please feel free to contact me at (972) 304-3679. Sincerely, Kenneth M. Griffin, P.E.
