MA0401-CS060307 PRESS RELEASE DATE: March 7, 2006 Rehabilitation of Asphalt Streets in Northlake Woodlands Subdivision (Oakcrest Ln., Hidden Valley Dr., Sandy Oak Ln., Oakbrook Dr., Rolling Hills Circle and Glencrest Circle) The city budgeted funds this year in the Infrastructure Maintenance Fund (IMF) for rehabilitation of asphalt streets within the Northlake Woodlands Subdivision. A Dallas County crew will be repairing and overlay the streets in this area beginning Monday, March 13, 2006 and continuing through April 2006. Also, the city's concrete contractor is continuing to work on the balance of the Northlake Woodlands Phase 7 curb and gutter rehabilitation to prepare for Dallas County to pave those streets. Two-way traffic will be maintained during construction; however, you may experience delays and inconveniences. Thank you in advance for your patience during this project. CURRENT CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS Construction / Road Closures TOWN CENTER BOULEVARD (Between Wendy's and the YMCA) (est. time - Spring Break March 13 thru March 19, 2006) Town Center Blvd., between Wendy's Restaurant and the YMCA, will be completely closed to traffic during Spring Break beginning Monday, March 13 through Sunday, March 19, 2006 for pavement repairs. You will need to seek alternate routes. Kimbel Kourt to east city limits) (est. time - March 2005 thru July 2006) ( The project consists of the reconstruction of the existing 2-lane asphalt road to a 4-lane divided roadway with improved drainage. Construction began in March 2005 and will continue through the 3rd Quarter of 2006. City Council awarded the contract for the construction of this project to Tiseo Paving Company. Riverchase Dr. will be closed to all through traffic at East Sandy Lake Rd. during the week of March 13th to facilitate the transition to the new paving for the east and west bound traffic flow. After the switch of traffic, the contractor will start filling on the south side and in April should begin his subgrade work and start paving shortly thereafter. Two-way traffic will be maintained; however, you may experience construction delays and inconveniences. #ST 99-02 - WEST SANDY LAKE RD. Phase A (SH 121 to Coppell Rd. North) and ROYAL Ln. (Northpoint to Sandy Lake Rd.) (est. time - January 2006 thru November 2006) A contract for Sandy Lake Rd. was awarded to Tiseo Paving Company in December 2005. The project consists of the reconstruction of the existing 2-lane asphalt road to a 4-lane divided roadway with related drainage, water and sidewalk improvements. Also, traffic signals will be installed on Sandy Lake Rd. at Royal Ln., Freeport Pkwy., and N. Coppell Rd., and the construction of two additional lanes to make Royal Ln. a 4-lane divided roadway. The construction will take place on the south side of the roadway with the two lanes being constructed and then traffic being switched over to the new lanes for the removal of the existing asphalt roadway and construction of the remainder of the road. Two-way traffic along West Sandy Lake Road will be maintained at all times. However, North Coppell Road, at its intersection with West Sandy Lake Road, will be completely closed to traffic during Spring Break (March 11 thru 19) for the contractor to install drainage pipe. You may experience construction delays and inconveniences beginning January 2006 through November 2006. Northlake Woodlands Rehabilitation of Asphalt Streets (Oakcrest Ln., Hidden Valley Dr., Sandy Oak Ln., Oakbrook Dr., Rolling Hills Circle and Glencrest Circle) (est. time - March 13, 2006 thru April 2006) The city is continuing with the rehabilitation of streets in Northlake Woodlands. A Dallas County crew will be repairing and overlaying the streets in this area beginning Monday, March 13 and it is expected to take approximately 4 weeks. The city's concrete contractor, Pavement Services, is continuing to work on the balance of the Northlake Woodlands Phase 7 curb and gutter rehabilitation in preparation for Dallas County crews to pave those streets. Two-way traffic will be maintained during construction; however, you may experience delays and inconveniences. If you have any questions please contact Garreth Campbell, City Inspector, at 972/304-3685 or the Engineering Department at 972/304-3679. #WA 97-01 - BELT LINE ROAD / DENTON TAP ROAD 16-Inch WATER LINE IMPROVEMENTS (Airline Drive to Bethel Road) (est. time - November 2005 thru April 2006) The construction of the waterline begins at the intersection of Belt Line Rd. and Airline Dr. and goes north to the intersection of Denton Tap Rd. and Bethel Rd. City Council awarded the contract for construction of this project to J.T. Dersner, Inc. Construction started in November 2005 and will take approximately 150 days to complete. North and south bound lanes on Belt Line / Denton Tap (between Airline and Bethel) will be closed at various times and locations in order to perform the work. If you have any questions please contact the Engineering Department at 972/304-3679. #ST 99-05 DR - BETHEL ROAD I DRAINAGE PHASE 'A' IMPROVEMENTS (Grapevine city limit line to Freeport Parkway) (est. time - December 2005 thru April 2006) This project generally consists of construction of a multi-barrel box culvert from the intersection of Freeport Pkwy/Bethel Rd. southward to the existing creek. A headwall will be constructed at the creek and gabions will be provided for slope stabilization along the creek bank. Also, grading will take place from the outfall to the south side of the existing culverts beneath Bethel Rd. immediately east of Loch Lane. City Council awarded the contract for construction of this project to Craig Olden, Inc. and construction started in December 2005. STATE HIGHWAY 121 BYPASS (Dallas County Line to IH 35E) This project consists of two separate projects both being constructed by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). One section is from Lake Vista Drive eastward to the north side of IH 35E; and the other section is from Lake Vista Drive westward to the split of S.H. 121 Bypass and S.H. 121 Business (near the Grapevine, Coppell, Lewisville meeting point). VERIZON Communications Upgrade Verizon has substantially completed upgrading their system in Coppell to state-of-the-art fiber optic technology. The entire city was ultimately "re- wired" during this upgrade project. The project was reviewed and permitted through the City of Coppell Engineering Department. ; #SS 99-01 - DEFOREST ROAD LIFT STATION IMPROVEMENTS The overall design of the DeForest Rd. Lift Station Improvements consist of a new lift station, the rehabilitation of the Sandy Lake Rd. lift station, and force main improvements. This project is being constructed as four separate projects: / Deforest Road and Sandy Lake Road Lift 1.UNDER CONSTRUCTION Station Improvements A contract for the construction of a new lift station at Deforest Rd. and the rehabilitation of the Sandy Lake Rd. lift station was awarded to CanFer Construction Company in October 2004. Construction of this project began in November 2004 and anticipated completion of the project is the 2nd Quarter of 2006. 2./ Force Main Line D CONSTRUCTION COMPLETE As part of the upgrades to our sanitary sewer system, a new sanitary sewer force main was installed in the median of MacArthur Blvd. from Deforest Road to Village Parkway. At Village Parkway, it proceeds in an easterly direction to the city's pump station, and then proceeds southerly across Sandy Lake Road to the existing sanitary sewer lift station, behind the vacant shopping center at the southeast corner of MacArthur and Sandy Lake. 3./ Force Main Lines / A & B CONSTRUCTION COMPLETE Force Main Lines 'A' & 'B' was generally constructed in the median of MacArthur Boulevard, from Condor Drive to Belt Line Road, and on city owned property. 4. / Force Main Line C CONSTRUCTION COMPLETE PROJECTS IN DESIGN  #ST 99-02 - WEST SANDY LAKE RD. Phase A - SANDY LAKE RD. / under construction (SH 121 to Coppell Road North) and ROYAL LANE (Northpoint to Sandy Lake Road) Phase B - SANDY LAKE RD. (Coppell Road north to Denton Tap Road) A design contract for Sandy Lake Road was awarded to Teague, Nall and Perkins, Inc. on December 12, 2000. The project consists of the reconstruction of the existing 2-lane asphalt road to a 4-lane divided roadway with improved drainage. The project is in the preliminary design phase. Construction of the improvements is anticipated to start in 4th Quarter 2008.  #ST 99-05 - BETHEL RD. I (West City Limits to Freeport Parkway) A design contract for Bethel Road was awarded to TranSystems Corporation on February 13, 2001. The project consists of the widening of the existing 2-lane asphalt road to a 4- lane divided roadway. The project also includes a detailed drainage study to determine how to accommodate the future drainage associated with the large undeveloped property at the southwest corner of Royal Lane and Bethel Road, and design of the required drainage improvements. The contract for construction of Phase 'A' of the drainage improvements has been awarded and is anticipated to start in the 3rd Quarter of 2006.  #ST 03-01 - BETHEL RD. II (Bethel Road from Denton Tap Rd. to Freeport Pkwy. and Coppell Road from Bethel Rd. north to Cooper Ln.) A design contract for Bethel Road was awarded to Freese & Nichols, Inc. at the May 27, 2003 City Council meeting. The project consists of the reconstruction of the existing 2- lane asphalt road, streetscape improvements in the historic downtown area, storm drain improvements, and the replacement of water lines. The project is in the design phase and the construction plans are 60% complete. Construction of the improvements is anticipated to start in the 3rd Quarter of 2007.  #ST 00-03 - COPPELL RD. (Sandy Lake Rd. to Cooper Ln.) A design contract for Coppell Road was awarded to Huitt-Zollars, Inc. at the June 24, 2003 City Council meeting. The project consists of the reconstruction of the existing 2-lane asphalt roadway to a 2-lane undivided roadway, the addition of sidewalks along both sides of the road, and improved drainage. The project is in the design phase and construction of the improvements is anticipated to start in the 2nd Quarter of 2007. Engineering/Public Works Department Road Construction / Road Closures During the week of Spring Break (March 11 through March 19) several roads in the city will be closed for construction. North Coppell Road, between Eastwick Dr. and West Sandy Lake Rd., will be completely closed to traffic for the installation of drainage pipe associated with the West Sandy Lake Road project. Town Center Boulevard, between Wendy's Restaurant and the YMCA, will be completely closed to traffic for pavement repair. Riverchase Drive will be closed to all through traffic at East Sandy Lake Rd. to facilitate the transition to the new paving for the east and west bound traffic flow of East Sandy Lake Rd. Northlake Woodlands Rehabilitation ( Oakcrest Ln., Hidden Valley Dr., Sandy Oak Ln., Oakbrook Dr., Rolling Hills Circle and Glencrest Circle) will continue with a Dallas County crew starting Monday, March 13 and continuing through April.
