We received the requests from the cities of Coppell and Irving for a traffic signal at the
intersection of IH 635 and Royal Lane. We concur that the existing traffic data supports a
traffic signal, but we are not authorizing one at this time due to the existing geometry at the IH
635 westbound exit ramp to Royal Lane and the adjacent intersection of Royal Lane and
Gateway Blvd. We will not install signals at one side of the interchange in the interim, Le, IH
635 eastbound exit ramp at Royal Lane, due to driver's expectancy.
We will authorize and construct a traffic signal as part of the ramp realignment project. Please
keep us informed on the status of this project.
