Freese & Nichols, Inc. 214-217-2282 From: Caleb Thornhill Sent: Tuesday, October 12, 2010 3:32 PM To: kmarvin@coppelltx.gov Cc: 'cpl03243@freese.com'; Tony Diaz; Tricia Hatley; Chris Poteet Subject: Bethel Road - Response to Latest Bridge Contractor's Detail Received 10/11/10   Keith,   I’ve attached the latest detail for the proposed retaining wall “fix” received 10/11/10.  Below is our structural department’s response:   “We have reviewed the revised "fix" submitted by the Contractor.  We had raised some questions about the previous repair.  There is still one issue unresolved.  The new vertical wall does not extend to the top and we are OK with that; we do have a problem with the attachment of the new wall to the existing wall (#3 @ 15" c/c).  Keep in mind that the traffic rail will be attached to the top of the wall in place and we had problems with that wall as constructed.  It’s recommended  to attach securely the existing wall to the new wall using heavier anchors more closely spaced to withstand vehicular impact.  #5 @12” centers would be acceptable.  This detail is required for the entire length of previously constructed wall.   Other than that, we are ok with the proposed revisions.   Tony Diaz, P.E.”   Please review and provide any comments you might have.  Forward this on to Steve with and have him contact Tony Diaz directly at 817-735-7265 with any questions or comments he might have.   Thanks.   B.
