Per,
Can you review the emails below and render an opinion? The gist of it is that our bridge designer has recommended a
delinieator on the approach side of the new bridge on Bethel Road. Larry wants them to install an object marker instead.
At the end of the project, I want them to have the appropriate sign so we don't have to go put something up ourselves.
In reading the MUTCD, and reviewing the TXDOT detail sheets, it looks like either method could be used.
Thanks,
Keith

Keith,
Below are the approved requirements for the installation of the MBGRail
at the 4 locations on the Bethel Rd project. The recommended delineator
requested and installed is basically a metal post with 2 white
reflectors on it.
In speaking with Larry Davis on site, the attached picture is what he is
wanting installed. This can be done and we can order and install the
ones like in the picture, I just need to know if you are wanting this
changed to the attached picture type and send me the revised
specification so that I can get Dallas Lite & Barricade to proceed with
this change.
Thank you,

Dean,
Here is FNI's recommendations:
1) N/E side -TL2 and Terminal Anchor Section (TAS). It's also
recommended for a delineator (TxDOT item 658-2255 INSTL DEL ASSM (D-DW)
SZ 2 (WC) GND)
2) S/E side - Terminal Anchor Section (TAS) only
3) N/W side - Terminal Anchor Section (TAS) only
4) S/W side - TL2 and Terminal Anchor Section (TAS). It's also
recommended for a delineator (TxDOT item 658-2255 INSTL DEL ASSM (D-DW)
SZ 2 (WC) GND)
Please annotate these changes in the red lines. Any cost implications
will need to be discussed directly with the city.
Call me with any questions.

Keith,
Attached are the TXDOT specifications for the guard rail specified for
this project. Is it required to have the specified guard rail on all
four (4) corners of the bridge or on the opposite end to the bridge, in
the direction of traffic flow would a certain distance with a turn-down
be sufficient. Also, there are several items that seem to come into
conflict at the designated areas and are noted as follows:
1) N/E side: 11' from the end point is a manhole that will be covered.
39' away is a high
voltage box.
2) S/E side: 28' from end point is a utility pole.
3) N/W side: 44' from the end point is an electrical box.
4) S/W side: 3' from the end point is a fire hydrant.
Some, if not all of the issues will have to be addressed prior to
installation and will need a revised sheet if the distances change from
what is on the current plan.
Also, we will be pouring the end columns either Thursday or Friday this
week and would like to see if the METAL BEAM GUARD FENCE TRANSITION
(TL2) is the correct connection you want at the bridge so that the bolt
pattern can be accounted for with the pour instead of having to core the
holes at a later date. If you can review and get me the "okay to
proceed" on this one item, I can have my guard rail installer get with
North Texas Bridge, ASAP, in regards to the 4 locations and a template
for the bolt pattern.
