May 7, 2010 Mr. Keith Marvin City of Coppell Via E-mail: kmarvin@coppelltx.gov Dear Keith: As we discussed on Wednesday, HMI’s treeFacts Replacement Cost Report provides the average cost to replace a plant of the same type and size inspected, it is not intended to represent an appraisal of the plants given their current condition, location or value as a species. HMI can provide you with an appraisal for the plants on Mr. Mill’s property as you requested. In order to minimize the time and cost to complete the appraisal HMI would have a second arborist evaluate the trees included in our Report with regards to the variables described above. The arborist would apply ratings for each of these variables against the replacement cost values in our Report. The resulting values will be consistent with an appraisal of the trees on the property. HMI charges $225/hour for our consulting activity. It is difficult to estimate the number of hours that will be required to complete this analysis; however based on my experience I don’t believe it will take more than 7 hours to complete ($1,575). This rate is all-inclusive and will cover the on-site inspection and the report. It also covers all expenses we may incur.
