Keith,
I met with TxDOT today on a separate project and was told that all transportation projects such as Sandy Lake
and the other project I am working on must comply with a new federal regulation requiring on-street bike lanes.
This would be an outside lane width of 14’ in each direction. There are no exceptions allowing projects to be
grandfathered. They have had projects that were 95% complete have to go back and add these bike lanes.
I am supposed to be getting a copy of the federal regulation that was passed in March of this year and I will pass
that on once I have it. I just wanted to let you know so that you would be prepared for our meeting next week.
