Bethel & Sandy Lake Projects
Mr. Stavely,
My name is Keith Marvin, and I am the project engineer for both of these projects. Thank you for
contacting the city with your concerns about traffic management during this construction.
The Bethel Road project is limited to the "Old Town"(S. Coppell to Freeport) area during this phase. This
project will involve closure of Bethel Road for as much as 60 days. During periods of closure detours will
be maintained for both through traffic and local traffic. This project is expected to begin by the 4th quarter
of this year, with the Bethel Road portion complete within about 6 months.
The Sandy Lake Road project will begin during the first quarter of next year. This means there could be
some overlap, however there will be no closure of Sandy Lake during this project. Two-way traffic will be
maintained for the duration of the project.
We understand that construction causes delays and inconveniences no matter how much we plan for
them. We monitor the impact to traffic and make adjustments as needed, and we will do that on these
projects as well. For your consideration the following east-west routes will avoid both projects: Dividend,
Wrangler, Airline, Southwestern, Bethel School/Plantation, and Parkway.
I'm out of the office today, but if you would like to discuss these projects in greater detail, please feel free
to call me at 972-304-3681.

We have recently read about the proposed construction projects on westbound Sandy Lake and
westbound Bethel. These are two main westbound arteries from Coppell for those wishing to access
Grapevine, Flower Mound, and the like.
Our concern is that these construction projects will not take place with any overlap; in other words, one
project should complete before the other begins so westbound traffic will have at least one major outlet
during construction periods.
Is it the plan and/or intent of the Council to ensure these projects are scheduled without overlap?
Thanks for your time and consideration on this matter.
