Kody - Per our conversation this change has been denied based on the spirit of the Lump Sum contract
format, requirements placed on the contractor for review of the documents and verification of field
conditions, and the procedures outlined for clarifications and processing of any proposed changes to the
contract scope, or amount.

Item 1. There was no over-run on the 24" drill shafts. This was
changed back to the bid quantity
Item 2. Please see Terracon's drilling reports dated: 10/20/09,
11/06/09, 4/1/10. These agree with the 131 LF and show the minimum
required penetration.

Hi guys
Our structural engineer reviewed the clarification documents that we
received from the contractor in regard the bridge quantity over-runs.
He has the following comments
Jorge,
1. Item 58A (24" DS) - I need further clarification on why an
extra shaft was drilled and where it was drilled.
2. Item 59A (30" DS) - The 30" DS for bents 2 and 3 appear to have
been drilled farther than necessary or the rock was deeper than
anticipated. I don't think this is a valid charge; nevertheless, the

total increase in cost should not be more than $1550 (11 LF x
$140.92/LF)
3. Item 65A (4SB15) - I agree with the increase in quantity and
the increase in cost (2.5 LF x $145.26/LF = $363.15 extra)
4. Item 66A (5SB15) - I agree with the increase in quantity (2.5
LF), but the increase in cost seems too high. The increase in cost
should be the same as the 4SB15 beams because the unit price per LF for
5SB15 was also $145.26/LF.
