Keith,
Here is an updated Earthwork Calculation Memo. We appear to be close to what the contractor has
calculated.
I apologize for the confusion before.

Coppell Road Outfall Earth Balance Process
ÜßÌÛæ
February 1, 2010
In order to measure the earth-balance for the Coppell Road Storm System Outfall a comparison had to be
made between the proposed outfall contours and the City of Coppell 2ft contours. To make this
comparison the following steps were taken:
A surface was created from the proposed outfall contours in AutoCad Civil 3D.
A surface was created from the City of Coppell 2ft contours in AutoCad Civil 3D.
A volume comparison was made between the proposed outfall surface and the City of Coppell 2ft
surface using AutoCad Civil 3D’s Surface Utility volume calculator.
AutoCad Civil 3D’s volume calculator determined the cut, fill and net volume for the comparison
surfaces. Based on the Headwall Placement at Sta 8+81.87, a net earth-balance of 12,100 cubic yards of
cut was calculated.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Thank you,
Brett Bristow, PE, LEED AP
