This doesn't cause us any concern. As far as contractors go, I know some of them may be off that day. They are welcome to drop bids off any time between now and the bid opening. They are not required to attend the opening, and a tabulation will be available for anyone that's interested. As you know, the addendum that shifted the bid opening contained no major changes. We feel that most contractors could have submitted their bids on the original schedule. The only reason for the change was our 72 hour rule. Let me know if anyone tells you they will not submit a bid due to the holiday. We've had some contractors asking. They obviously had to disturb that area to build it. Keith Keith Marvin, P.E. Here are my rough calcs below: Between Sidewalk/Curb: 1550 SY Behind Sidewalk: 2400 SY Channel: 6500 SY Can you clarify the "offsite storm drainage going to the channel"? B. Caleb Thornhill, P.E. Keith Keith Marvin, P.E. Project Engineer (972) 304-3681 >>> "Marty Murphy" <Martym@JRJPaving.com> 3/29/2010 12:26 PM >>> Keith, James is no longer with JRJ, so I am still trying to find the information he used when he sent you the change order request for the channel excavation. On another note I have had my guys do a takeoff of the grass quantities on this project per the plans. between the curb and sidewalk there is 1645 square yards, from the back of sidewalk to the daylight grading line there is 2621 square yards. Our contract quantities are 2300 square yards so we are short quantities for the street. This does not address the offsite storm drainage going to the channel or the channel itself. These quantities are 5867 square yards for the channel and 1822 square yards for the storm drainage work. I am being told that Rick only wants sod between the back of curb and sidewalk and hydromulch for the rest of the areas. With that said we have enough quantities for the sod but no pay item for the hydromulch. I am about to head out to a precon meeting, I wanted to bring this to your attention now and I will call you when I get back to discuss further.
