ST9304-CS 881024October 24, 1988 To: From: Re: Frank Trando, Finance Director, Deputy City Manager Carmen Chapman, Accounting Clerk Belt Line Road East-West Project This response is in reference to to the memo that Mr. Doyle asked be reviewed. Attached is a memo from Dallas County Public Works regarding their contribution toward the Denton Tap Improvement Project and the Belt Line Road Improvement project. Total funding is $4.25 million with $2.6 million being applied to the Denton Tap Road Project. This leaves $1.65 million funding for the Belt Line East-West project. At this point we have already spent $137,187.10 on Engineering fees and have encumbered $484,209.00 on the same. Please see sheet #2 which is attached to this memo. Given the estimates for construction on all three segments of the Belt Line East-West project and the amounts already expended, it appears that we will have an estimated deficit of $6,171,396.10. Additional funding is necessary even to complete only one segment of the Belt Line East-West project. (Please sheet number 3 which is attached to this memo.) If you have any questions let me know. DALLAS COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS March 23, 1988 Mr. Alan D. Ratliff City Manager City of Coppell P.O. Box 478 Coppell, Texas 75019 CITY MA~A~R Belt Line Road Project 490-403 (Denton Tap to East City Limit Line) (Denton Tap - Belt Line to Denton Creek) Dear Mr. Ratliff: We have received the draft request from your Engineer to apply $2,600,000.00 of the project funding to the section of Denton Tap Road from Belt Line Road to Denton Creek. We are concerned that remaining portion of monies will not be adequate to fund the construction of Belt Line from MacArthur to the East City Limits. Our estimate of the Belt Line sec- tion is approximately $2,200,000.00~ With $2.6 million being applied to Denton Tap leaves a balance of $1,650,000.00, yielding a shortfall of funding of $550,000.00. This does not include any costs for right-of-way acquisition, adminis- trative costs of bond sales, testing, and such. As stated previously, the County believes that six lanes should be constructed from MacArthur to the East City Limits because of the predicted traffic counts for this area. Please keep this in mind when finalizing your request for the funding of these'projects. Should you have any questions, please contact me.
