Re:
Belt Line Road Projects 490-402 and 403
(MacArthur Boulevard to I.H. 35E)
Dear Mr. Doyle:
As discussed with you previously, the traffic along Belt
Line Road is t£ave±iing at a high rate of speed. With
construction equipment and haul trucks working in close
proximity to the roadway, it is not safe having a speed
limit of 50 MPH on Belt Line Road within the project units.
Construction speed signs of 20 M.P.H. were posted along the
project in hopes that the traffic would slow down. There
has not been any appreciable difference in the traffic speed
along Belt Line Road in Coppell. The City of Carrollton has
officially reduced the speed limit in the their section of
Belt Line Road to 30 M.P.H. and have begum patrolling the
area to help control the speeding in this area. We request
the speed limit on Belt Line Road from MacArthur Boulevard
to the Coppeil East City Limits be temporarily reduced to 30
M.P.H. du£ing the construction of the project.
Should you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Allen Bud Beene, P.E.
Project Engineer
