RE: TRAFFIC CONTROL PROBLEMS @ NORTHLAKE DRIVE AND BELTLINE ROAD
Dear Mr. Fitzgerald:
This letter is in response to your August 30, 1989 letter, where you
brought to our attention the possible need for enhancements to the traffic
control at the Northlake Drive and Beltline Road intersection.
City Staff investigated that intersection. While there are no reportable
accidents on file with the Police Department, we do feel some measures
should be taken in light of the information from your letter, and our
field investigation.
We will be taking the following actions. The 50 MPH sign will be
relocated to the east, and a 30 MPH sign has been installed there. There
will be a warning sign installed for eastbound traffic alerting them that
the intersection in question is ahead.
These are the most immediate actions that can be taken. In regard to the
parking restrictions and the 30 MPH speed sign on Northlake Drive, City
Staff will review that situation and prepare required ordinances for City
Council consideration and approval.
We will keep you informed on the progress of these actions. If, in the
interim, you should have any questions, please feel free to contact
Project Engineer Shohre Daneshmand, or City Engineer Russell Doyle.
l~e appreciate your ringing this matter to our att~ion, and after all
proposed action is taken, better traffic control will exist, as you have
alluded to in your letter.
Regarding your concern about trailer trucks accens/exit from Northlake
Drive, when Beltline Road is improved to a siz lane divided facility;
please be assured that, while we are not yet under design in this area,
those traffic considerations will be taken into account.
Please feel free to contact us at anytime in the future. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Alan D. Ratliff
