We attended the regularly scheduled meeting of the Coppell City
Council last night to address their concerns regarding the status
of the Landscape construction and final Contract closeout for this
project. As you are aware there has been a lot of criticism of
the project lately mainly due to the weedS and Johnson grass which
has grown in the landscaped areas of this project. Last night we
were able to assure the City Council that while the landscape is
not currently in a condition which will be acceptable to the City
or Ginn, Inc., it will be so by the time that Ed Bell Construction
Company has completed the punch list of items, copy attached,
which were identified in last Tuesday's walk through.
In addition to ~he final punch list for the landscape we have
attached a plan for weed eradication and control which has been
prepared by our Landscape Architect. We offer this as a potential
solution to the problems you are now encountering with weed
control. It appears that if you follow this or a similar program
to handle the weed problem, you may be able to pursue the punch
list items in a timely fashion and conclude your responsibilities
under the Contract with a healthy, weed free landscape in a
minimum amount of time.
We urge you to pursue completion of the remaining punchlist items,
both on the main project and the landscape, as well as the
Contract closeout provisions of Division I as soon as possible.
We will complete our review of the preliminary final application
and final quantities as soon as we can and transmit our final
figures to you. We will be happy to meet with you at any
reasonable time during the next few weeks to discuss the
disposition of the items remaining for you to address in
completion of this project.
