Dear Mr. Albert:
We have reviewed the test results of the trench backfill and
adjacent native materials for the pavement failure areas at
centerline stations 25+90 and 35+00. A copy of the report is
enclosed for your records.
Per our review of the test results and discussions with Terra-
Mar, we feel the data is conclusive and demonstrates that the
trench backfill is not in compliance With the plans and
specifications for this project. Generally, the material shows
to be low in density and high in moisture in relation to the
plans and specifications.
In addition, the native materials adjacent to the trench backfill
have also been found not to be in compliance with the
specifications. Generally, the native material shows to be high
in moisture in relation to the plans and specifications.
At this time, please address these areas to the extent of
bringing both the trench backfill and native material in
compliance with the plans and specifications.
Please advise our office at this time regarding your schedule and
proposed solution to these problems.
