Through Lanes/Left Turn Lanes at Intersections of Mockingbird
& East Beltline and Moore & East Beltline
Street department field forces have completed the through lane
construction at the intersection of Mockingbird/East Beltline which
will facilitate a left turn lane and allow ~~bound tr~fflc to
flow without stopping. There is minor finish work to be completed.
At the intersection of Moore/East Beltline, the City of Dallas has
indicated that without strong justification, accident reports, etc.,
they could not provide any improvements such as the left turn lane.
Additionally, they do not have surplus funds available for improvements.
Coppell Police Department's records indicate there has not been an
accident at this location since 1985. Therefore, the improvements
by Dallas are unlikely.
Staff could provide some type of improvement on a minor scale which
will cost approximately $700.00 for eastbound traffic to go around
that traffic holding for a left turn. If you have no objection we
will proceed with this. Once the weather has improved and field forces
are able to finish up at Mockingbird, I will advise. This will probably
be March 13th.
