Belt Line Road Drainage Improvements
NDM No.: 87-12-150
In our capacity as engineer for the Northwest Dallas County Flood Control District, we have reviewed the
drainage plans for Belt Line Road and the impact of these improvements on the District.
We found one area that, if constructed as designed, will create a problem for the District.
An existing storm sewer line, which runs eastward along the District's common boundary line with the
railroad, discharges under the railroad trestle east of MacArthur Boulevard in the direction of Belt Line
Road. Lateral "A8", shown on sheet GD-2 of the Belt Line Road plans, is positioned to accept the
discharge.
The problem is that the flowline of the proposed lateral is approximately 1.5 feet higher than the outfall
of the District's line. This problem could be corrected by lowering the upstream end of Lateral A8 by 2
feet. I have spoken with John Karlsruher and Bud Beene. Neither of them saw a problem with making
this change after their initial review of this situation. However, it is my understanding that the request for
such a change must come from you.
Enclosed is a print of our line. The as-built elevation of our outfall relative to the Belt Line Road bench
loop is 437.86. Please review this situation and, if you concur, make a request for this change to be
made.
