Dear Mike:
On August 24, 1995, I met with Larry Davis, City of Coppell, Bobby Foster with LH. Lacy Co.,
and Thomas Navin with Prentiss Properties Limited, Inc. concerning the open drainage channel
across from Lone Star Door on Airline Drive. Since this channel is in a public drainage
easement, on property owned by Dupey Management Corporation, Prentiss Properties should not
be responsible for maintaining a City drainage easement off their property. The modification to
the outfall did not change the flowline at the channel. The grade to drain note on the plans for
the new storm sewer system was intended to help drain some of the water that collects at the
outfall. There is not enough fall in the existing channel to adequately drain the entire section.
To help improve the hydraulics of the system, the first 100 feet of the channel should be cleared
for a width of 10 feet on a minimum 0.30% slope. Water will still collect in this section of the
channel until the entire reach is enclosed in an underground system or improved to a paved open
channel.
