Metal Beam Guard Fence
Dear Mr. Martin:
As part of your latest review, you have requested that a metal beam guard fence be placed
around the 5' x 2' box culvert entrance at the southwest side of Northpoint Drive's
intersection with the SH 121 service road.
It is my understanding that traffic heading southeast (or eastbound in general) on Northpoint
Drive will be those slow moving vehicles which have just made a right turn from the
northbound SH 121 service road. I think it is unlikely that the metal beam guard fence would
ever be needed to stop a vehicle from running down into the culvert inlet basin. Instead, I
feel the metal beam guard fence itself would be more of a danger to motorists than what it
would be there to protect them from.
Based upon this, I recommend that the guard rail not be placed as requested and have not
shown any MBGF installation as a part of this project.
