* Alternate method-tunnelling
Dear Sirs:
Attached please find a letter from 8outhland Contracting, Inc.,
requesting permission to change the method and material on certain portions
of the remaining sewer pipe to be installed in Bethel Road. As discussed in
our meeting of April 21, 8outhland will perform the alternate method at the
same unit prices established for micro-tunnelling.
Also enclosed is a letter from Michael Bank with Engineered Sewer
Products verifying that Vylon pipe would be appropriate for the proposed
alternate tunnel liner installation. Finally, please observe the drawing
from Site Development Engineering, Inc., for the tunnel liner installation.
It should be noted that Southland Contracting will be utilizing both the
bore tunnel machine and the micro-tunnel machine on different segments of the
remaining work in an attempt to expedite completion of the construction in
Bethel Road, east of Denton Tap. Kenko is fully cognizant of its
responsibility to install manholes, make appropriate connections, test the
lines, backfill the bore pits and replace pavement.
