T.A.S.C. VII AUTOMATIC RECTIFIER FOR WATER STORAGE TANKS
AND WATER I WASTEWATER TREATMENT EQUIPMENT
RECTIFIER OPERATION I DESCRIPTION
The HARCO / CPS T.A.S.C. VII recti~er is specifically designed to provide accurate, economical
corrosion control for the submerged surfaces of steel water storage tanks and water / wastewater
treatment units. The T.A.S.C. VII is designed by NACE accredited cathodic protection engineers' for
optimum performance in accordance with ANSI/AWWA D104, Type A, IR Drop Free control standards.
The T.A.S.C. VII automatically monitors and adjusts the DC output required for optimum corrosion
control. The T.A.S.C. VII control unit is equipped with an automatic poten~al limit which is adjusted to
maintain AWWA D104-97 and NACE cdteda for optimum cathodic protection corrosion control while
preventing over or under protection of the coated surface, Supedor design, engineering and operation
provide owner / .operators with long life, low maintenance performance. The standard digital display
meters facilitate ease of monitoring, with performance indicator lights on the front cabinet available as an
optional extra feature. Each T.A.S.C. VII is both factory and job site tested to insure quality workmanship
and performance. · "

WATERWORKS WIRE ANODE
APPLICATIONS
ANODE LIFE
· Water Storage Tanks
· Water Treatment Equipment
ELGARD Waterworks Wire Anode is a copper cored tita-
nium wire with a mixed metal oxide coating. The mixed
metal oxide is a crystalline, electrically-conductive coat-
ing that activates the titanlure and enables it to function
as an anode.
The ELGARD wire anode delivers reliable, long-life
current necessary to uniformly protect water storage
tanks and assorted water treatment equipment from inter-
nal corrosion.
/COPPER CORE
ACTIVATION COATING
Due to the extremely low consumption rates and
dimensional stability of mixed metal oxide anodes, the
electrical resistance of the ELGARD Water-works
Wire Anode remains essentially constant with time.
The high current density capability of mixed metal
oxide anodes have the added advantage of allowing
high current
overloads
for initial
polarization
without

Permanent Reference Cell
For Accurate Readings in Fresh Water
Environments
Routine monitoring is an important part of any
cathodic protection maintenance program. To
simplify this testing procedure. different types of
permanent reference cells can be used. For struc-
tures located in fresh water areas Harco offers the
Permacell 801 copper/copper sulfate ceIL The ceil is
made using a 99.99% pure copper coiled element
which is surrounded by a super saturated solution
of copper surfate. To ensure a low resistance
connection, a lead wire is soldered and mechani-
cally bonded to the copper element. This electrical
junction is then encapsulated by a moisture resis-
tant material for a truly sealed connection. Elecui-
cal contact to the electrolyte is accomplished
through a filtering plug at the end of the reference
electrode. The plug allows accurate potential
measurements to be obtained while preventing cell
contamination.
In order for a reference to be effective, it must
remain electrically stable over time. Harco's 801
reference cell delivers unsurpassed stability due to
strict quality control procedures implemented
during the manufacturing process. The cell is
constructed in a controlled environment, totally fzee
of cont~min~nts. The various components used in
the cell are also purffied. Dionized water is used to
create the super saturated solution of copper
sulfate, and the copper element is treated with a
special cleansing agent before it is installed into the
cell's plastic ho,,.iug. Each cell is also tested for
resistance and electrical potential, and the values
obtained are recorded and marked on shipping tags
attached to the cells. These extra quality steps give
the Permacell 801 a 10-year design life and
the ability to maintain an elecUical potential
of within plus or minus 5 millivolts.
Typical Applications
The Permacell 80I is ideal for use in caffiodic
protection systems operated in fresh water
environments. This includes elevated water
storage tanks, clarifiers. traveling screens,
pasteurizers, locks, dams. and fresh water
dock structures. The cell can be operated
in temperatures of up to 135°F, but should
not be used in waters containing high
concentrations of chloride ions.
