RE: At-Grade Railroad Crossing for Extension of Royal Lane
Dear Mayor Duggan:
Please refer to your two letters dated February 18,
1987, one sent to Mr. G.L. Murdock in San Francisco,
California and one sent to Mr. R.R. McClanahan in Pine Bluff,
Arkansas. I represent St. Louis Southwestern Railway Company
("SSW") in this matter. I have reviewed the file and I have
been requested to advise you of the Company's position.
If I understand your latest offer of settlement cor-
rectly, as set forth in your February 18, 1987 letter to Mr.
G.L. Murdock, then I am authorized to advise you that SSW
will accept it. As I understand that letter, your offer is
as follows:
1. Cit~.of Coppell will pay SSW $20,167 for a non-
exclusive street easement, related slope and drainage ease-
ments and underground utility easements.
2. City of Coppell will pay SSW $193,865 for the
relocation of railroad switches and construction of "stacking
lanes".
3. The Coppell property owner who is negotiating with
the U.S. Postal Service will pay SSW an amount of $72,714 to
construct the at-grade road crossing.
4. The same property owner will pay SSW $170,000 for
the necessary safety equipment at the crossing.

Please telephone as soon as is convenient to let me know
if my understanding of your offer is correct and if you agree
to this settlement. If so, SSW can meet the time deadlines
set forth in the correspondence. We will need to arrange for
some assurance in writing from the involved Coppell property
owner that he will make the above payments attributable to
him.
Very truly yours,
