RE: Grapevine Creek Sewer Line Project Branches I and II (SS 93-01)
Dear Mr. Denton:
This letter is written as a follow-up to our telephone conversation of July 14, 1993. I called
you requesting information on the Texas Archeological Research Laboratory (TARL) in
reference to any archeological sites along the path of the sewer line. I have plotted the general
location of the sewer line and the limits of the park site on the attached portion of the USGS
Quad Map. I inquired of our consultant as to whether or not your office was contacted prior to
construction in the park site. Our consultant did indicate that he did review some maps and did
not notice any archeological sites in the general area of this sewer line installation. Also, during
the construction phase of this project no unusual artifacts were uncovered along the trench line.
It is my understanding that the Antiquities Code applies only to public land owned by
municipalities or counties. Therefore, I have not included the centefline of the sewer line as it
meanders along other parts of the creek, as they are all contained within private property. I do
understand that this is after the fact, however, as you stated on the telephone, people are not
widely aware of the Antiquities Code in the State of Texas.
