BOX' 160425 · IRVING, TEXAS 75016 · (214) 556-0188 LOW PRESSURE AIR TEST FOR GRAVITY SANITARY SEWER TEST PROCEDURE Each section of sewer shall be tested between successive manholes. Air shall be introduced into the pipeline until 4.0 psi guage pressure has been reached at which time the flow of air shall be reduced and the internal air pressure shall be maintained between 3.5 and 4.5 psi gauge for at least (2) minutes to allow the air tempature to come to equilibrium with the temp- erature of the pipe walls. Pressure in the pipeline shall be constantly mon- itored by a guage and hose arrangement seperate form the hose used to intro- duce air into the line. Pressure in the pipe line shall not be allowed to exceed 5 psi. After the temperature has stabilized and no air leaks at the plugs have been .found, the air pressure shall be permitted to drop and when the internal air pressure has reached 3.5 psi guage, a stop watch or sweep second hand watch shall be used to determine the time lapse required for the air pressure to drop tp 2.5 psi guage. If the time lapse required for the air pressure to decrease from 3.5 to 2.5 psi exceeds that shown in the following table, the pipe shall be presumed to be within acceptable limits for leakage. If the time lapse is less than that shown in the table,-~:the Contractor shall make the necessary corrections to reduce the leakage to a~ptable limits. LINE INFORMATION ' TEST RESULTS ? '~.
