CONSULTI S
Meeting -- lqoo£e Roa~'l~rOJect '
Dear Mr. Bailey~
I would like to take this time to recap our meeting held on the
above referenced project. As you know, the inspectors and myself
have expressed our concerns about the aesthetics of placed pavement
on the Moore Road project. The items covered were overall consis-
tency of curbs and pavement finish as the result of the slip form
machine used on this project.
The use of slip form paving equipment.should spread, consolidate,
screed and float-finish the freshly placed concrete in such a
manner as to produce a dense and homogeneous pavement. Problems
encountered were as follows~ Inconsistency in curb width,
height, finish and joints at leave outs, and pavement
terminations. We expressed our concerns on the wandering
centerline and surface condition of the placed pavement.
As agreed upon, we will give you the opportunity to satisfy the
requirements of the plans and specifications for this
project prior to the opening of the east half of Moore Road. We
ask that these deficiencies be attended to as soon as possible
and that ample time be available for us to reinspect, in case
replacement is required so as not to further delay the
anticipated opening for southbound traffic on Moore Road. I
would also like to reiterate that any work done at this time to
resolve these problems does not constitute overall acceptance.
This will be determined on final walk thru at completion of the
project. The method which you elect to place and perform work
is clearly your choice, but when the type of equipment used
seems inadequate, we reserve the right to reject that piece of
equipment when it does not perform to accepted standards.
If you have any questions in reference to the above, please feel
free to call.
