Dear Mr. Miller:
It was brought to our attention that problems were encountered
during the construction of drill shaft "D" at the south abutment
for the proposed bridge on the above referenced project.
After discussing the observations made by our field inspector
during the construction of this drill shaft and consultation
with the structural engineer regarding this issue, we have
concluded that the integrity of this particular drill shaft
cannot be guaranteed and therefore must be rejected.
Please indicate in writing how you propose to resolve this
problem.
