Subject:Denton Tap & Sandy Lake
I have three comments about the set up of the work zone at this time. First, I am pleasantly surprised how well
it seems to be working.
The next two comments will require a little more thought. The southbound taper/buffer area is by my
calculation too short (it also feels too short). My suggestion would be to create an island between Town Center
Dr. and the Wendy's/Tom Thumb entrance. It appears to be functioning at it's current distance but my concerns
would be during the late night hours when speeds frequently become more of a factor. In saying that, my
calculation may be off one way or the other if the 85th percentile is used. There seems to be a slight vertical
curve in the proximity of the Wendy's also.
The third is some signs may be warranted for NB S. Coppell Rd. @ Sandy Lake to help motorists avoid turning
east on Sandy Lake. There are not any signs of construction within viewing distance. Right turns onto Sandy
Lake may be compounded when Bethel Rd. is closed (G.P.S. would route them via Sandy Lake).
Those were my observations, I'll keep looking. Let me know if you need any help. Thanks, Per
