ST0501-CS110406 (10/31/2011) George Marshall - Deforest Lift Station UpdatePage 1 From: Glenn Hollowell To: Ken Griffin Date: 4/6/2011 8:26 PM Subject: Deforest Lift Station Update Ken, We switched the lift station over to the old force main and it appears to be working. The valve on the damaged force main is holding and no more sewage is coming out on the ground. The old force main seems to handle the load without any problem. All of the alarms, etc. should also alert us if there are any problems with the station tonight. Since the station should operate normally, we decided not to have the contractor work on the repair tonight. It would probably take him all night just to get the excavation work done. We did not feel that it would be necessary to have him out there making a bunch of noise all night right next to those homes. He promised that they would be back at 7 a.m. tomorrow to begin working on the repair. Doing the work in the dark would also be unsafe for his workers. The guy in charge of the repair for the contractor worked for Mastec and helped put the force main in 5 years ago. He seems to be very capable and we do have some confidence in him. Rick ODell is going to monitor the repair for us also. Ernest Powell is on-call this week. He is going to check the lift station at 10 p.m. tonight and any other times if he gets called out tonight. He will also check it again at 6 a.m. on his way to work in the morning. Ted is going to check in on the SCADA system tonight a well. Let me know if you have any questions or other concerns. I will update you again in the morning. Have a good evening.
