Consulting Engineer's Contract
Modification to the Scope of Services
1. Scope of Work
TNP shall provide professional civil engineering services, as outlined below, for completing the
preparation of design plans for the West Sandy Lake Road reconstruction project. This
modification is for additional services associated with the existing contract. The portion of
roadway between North Coppell Road and South Coppell Road (also referred to as Phase 2A)
is adjacent to Thweatt Park and entails the design of an 8 -foot wide trail that diverges away
from the roadway and meanders through the park before connecting to a trail along South
Coppell Road. The following are anticipated additions to the scope of work:
• Additional meetings and correspondence with City representatives.
• Additional topographic survey of the remainder of Thweatt Park to establish existing
contours within the park and verify flowlines of creek, pond (two cross sections), headwalls,
and pond outfall.
• Additional tree survey of trees 6 -inch diameter and larger to help in defining grading and
routing options that minimize impacts to existing trees within park.
• Prepare plan for dredging of existing pond and grading plan to improve pond depth to
approximately 10 -feet, and provide bank slopes for proper maintenance. Old PVC liner will
be replaced with new clay liner.
• Prepare plan for sizing and design of new pond outfall structure and discharge pipe to
creek, and provide design for emergency spillway.
• Plan modifications to reflect a revised trail alignment through the park based on pond
design.
• Prepare cost estimates for the above option and alternatives.
11. Project Schedule
The work will generally proceed in conjunction with the remaining schedule for the West Sandy
Lake Road project, as determined jointly by the City and TNP. It is anticipated that this phase
will bid for construction in early 2012.
111. Compensation
The Engineer shall be paid an additional lump sum fee for the above described Additional
Scope of Services in an amount of Seventeen Thousand, and no /100 Dollars ($ 17,000). This
amount includes the following increases:
Additional Tree Survey $ 1,000
Additional Topographic Survey (w/ pond sections) $ 8,000
Additional Engineering Design $ 8,000
TOTAL $ 17,000
