Not sure where the sentiment regarding politics within departments is stemming from. Regardless, Mr. Timmerman did not try to have this issue resolved through anyone prior to the weekend email to the CMO. Also, Mr. Timmerman is not the spokesperson for the Market. He simply coordinates how it will be laid out each week. On the larger picture, it does not seem logical that the Farmers Market would double their vendors in one year (or at least the size of the required surface) and assume that the city will be able to make accommodations, without having had that discussion with us. We will be in contact with the Market to assess this situation. Brad >>> Ken Griffin 4/20/2009 10:09 AM >>> Mario I spoke with Mr. Timmerman to assure him there were no issues between Parks and Streets. He stated that they are expanding the number of vendors and need us to about double the amount of dry surface that we previously provided. Keith will get with the County to see about cost and then we will get back with the CM office to determine what we will do. I'm not sure who his contact with Parks is now, but in the past we worked directly with Amanda Vanhoozier to determine how to help the Farmers Market. I'll let you know when I have additional information. Ken g >>> Debbie Cravey 4/20/2009 9:16 AM >>> Mario asked that I forward the attached email to you both & he will be calling you later today to discuss. Thanks! Per our conversation last week - I am forwarding his request to you. Apparently at last week's Farmers Market, patrons could not access the portapotties without walking thru puddles of water & several of the vendors had to be relocated due to the same problem. Councilman Franklin suggested he call Clay to see how this problem could be resolved. Mr. Timmerman made a comment that due to politics between Streets & Parks Dept. he is hopeful CMO's office might be able to get 2-3 truckloads of old road debris that is stored at the Service Center spread to this grassy area or at least dumped on the grassy section of the lot. If city can not spread the material he would be more than happy to do so. He is not available to meet until after 3 p.m. - his cell ph. number is 915 487 6120.
