This said, we will need vehicular and pedestrian access to the project area, including the perimeter of the reservoir, in order to assess and document the following: 0 All inflows to the reservoir; 0 The design spillway and the functioning outflow; 0 Any other water bodies (i.e., wetlands, etc.) within the project area; and • The receiving stream for the outflow. These data will be needed for the pre - application meeting with the U.S. Corps of Engineers (USAGE) in order to provide them with a clear understanding of the existing conditions (presence and location of waters of the U.S.). We will also assess the existing conditions of the project area in order to provide the USAGE with a habitat evaluation within the project area in regard to the presence /absence of federally listed threatened /endangered species for Dallas County. This specific site visit will be visual only, no tests. However, given the trouble, we might as well get permission to do the drilling, though that won't happen until we're authorized for the final design. The text below is form the proposed scope. The attached figure shows the location of the inlet and outlet and the other two holes would be along the pipeline. Perform up to 4 geotechnical borings at the dam, which would include one at the inlet, two along the pipeline alignment, and one for the outlet structure. Lengths will vary from 35 to 70 feet. a. Subcontract with a drilling contractor to drill the borings at the proposed locations. The borings will be drilled with either continuous flight or hollow -stem augers. Obtain soil samples for laboratory testing using thin - walled sampler tubes in fine - grained soils, perform Standard Penetration Tests in coarse - grained soils to obtain samples and perform cone penetrometer tests on rock in the field. Backfill borings with cement- bentonite grout and plug the upper foot of each boring with concrete sack mix to prevent a tripping hazard. This would probably be 2 or 3 days on site for a drilling rig. Whether you want to mention the drilling permission at some future visit is up to you, but this initial request is just for two folks to walk around and take pictures so they can describe the habitat and the environmental impact of lowering the lake.
