Bethel School/Harris-CS 920214~bru~ry 14, 1992 Mr. Nathan D. Maier Nathan D. Maier Consulting Engineers, Inc. Three Northpark/8800 N. Central Expressway, Suite 300 Dallas, TX 75231 Re: Bethel School Road and Harris Street Dear Mr. Maier: I have received and reviewed the plans for the referenced streets and have the following comments to offer: 1) A larger radius should be provided on the northeast corner of Bethel School with its intersection of Harris Street. This will require additional right-of-way. 2) Additional information should be provided for the intersection of Bethel School and Harris Street to insure that the crown and transition to the crown is properly constructed. 3) Sidewalks should be shown. Wheelchair ramps will be required at all street intersections. 4) The section of the drive approach to the south of the cul-de-sac and the existin§ drive approach at approximately Station 7+00 Harris Street will need to be concrete within the limits of the right-of-way as per the standard driveway details. 5) A traffic control plan should be provided that details how traffic will be handled durin§ the construction phase of this project. Access will be required to be provided to all streets and property owners at all times during construction. 6) The time of concentration should be provided for the drainage calculations. 7) A junction box should be provided at Station 2+21.12 of the 54" RC? to allow for a proper connection of the two laterals to the storm drainage system. 8) Recessed inlets should be provided on both Bethel School Road and Harris Street. Profiles should be provided for the lateral lines. 9i There appears to be a discrepancy concerning the location of the proposed 8" waterline as it crosses Line A-1. Please see comments on Sheet 4. Letter to Mr. Nathan D. Maier February 14, 1992 Page 2 10) Some type of rip-rap erosion control method should be provided at the outfall of the 54" RCP. 11) Would it be possible to relocate the inlet as shown on Sheet 5 of the plans, to eliminate the 90 de§tee bend in the RCP and to move it further away from the driveway provided for the property to the south. Also, some type of erosion control should be provided at the outfall. You may want to consider flattenin§ the last twenty or so feet of the RCP to slow down the velocities. 12) The sewer service at Station 5+04169 of Line A should not be provided out of the manhole. The service should be provided out of the proposed 8" sewer line. 13) The total len§th of the sewer, water, storm sewer and paving should be provided for inventory purposes. 14) All standard details should be provided. The following comments were provided by the Public Works department: Landscape plans should be provided. 2) A question concerning draina§e area six was provided. Please see comments on Sheet 3 of the plans from Public Works. 3) Public Works requested additional information on Line B at the end of Harris Street. 4) All water services should be 1" in diameter with a 3/4" meter. 5) The proposed sanitary sewer line should be concrete encased at approximately Station 4+10. Once these comments have been addressed both the engineering review and the Public Works review check sets should be resubmitted along with a corrected set of plans to the City. If you should have any questions or need any additional information, please feel free to contact me at your convenience. Sincerely, Kenn M. Griffin, P.E. City Engineer
