Bethel Road Coppell, Texas W &M Project No. 940.005 Dear Ms. Kittles: This letter summarizes the analytical results for a soil sample recovered from a water line trench located in West Bethel Road, Coppell, Texas. At the City's request, W &M Environmental Group, Inc. (W &M) recovered the soil sample from a shallow service trench excavated by a City contractor near 448 W. Bethel Road. The sample was taken at a depth of 2.5 to 3 feet below grade, and exhibited a moderate petroleum odor. Based on its shallow depth and the absence of similar odors in other portions of the excavation, the source of the odor could not be established. W &M placed the soil sample in glass jars and delivered it to Oxidor Laboratories, LLC under chain -of- custody. The sample was analyzed for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) using EPA Method 8260B and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) using Texas Method TX1005 to assess the presence of common contaminants associated with gasoline and similar petroleum products. Oxidor's analytical report is attached. Ten individual VOCs were detected above method quantitation limits (MQLs), each of which is associated with gasoline. Additionally, TPH in the carbon range C6-C12 (indicative of a light petroleum compound similar to gasoline) was reported above MQLs. To assess the significance of the data, W &M summarized the results for each compound in comparison to the Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP) Tier 1 Protective Concentration Levels (PCLs) for human exposure with a commercial /industrial land use ( t Soil co ,,, b ).
