We will be preparing a list of items for Lacy to come back and address prior to the expiration of their two year maintenance period. We met with Mr. Moore and relayed this information to him as well. See below for some issues that may need our attention. Brad, Any luck with either the contract mower or our staff on maintaining the area around the bridge? While looking at this, also check on the bridge on DTap just north of Bethel Road. There remains a fairly substantial amount of weeds growing into the railing on the east side of the road....not sure about the west side. Thanks! >>> "kmoore" <kent.moore3@verizon.net> 8/29/2011 10:42 PM >>> Clay: I can only imagine how excited you are to receive yet another e-mail about southwestern boulevard. There remain several minor chores that need attention regarding the Lacy Construction project. 1. The back fill on the City side of the sidewalk is not level with the curb in places. This results in a large depression at the curb on the lawn side. A clear oversight. Some fill dirt would be appreciated. 2. While mowing the curb side lawn, I ran over a piece of rebar that was protruding from the gravel drive area. It is curling out of the ground like a pig's tail, and is high enough that it was hit with the mower blade. Sparks were flying! I thought I had broken the blade. Although the rebar is on the property owner's side (next door at the landscape place), it seems reasonable to think that it is part of the sidewalk construction. I would suggest cutting it at ground level, but it might just pop up again in the future. It is a hazard though. 3. Recall that I asked for fill dirt to be placed around the concrete utility access caps close to the sidewalk. (2/28/2012) Keith Marvin - Re: southwesternPage 2 I have seen other concrete caps along southwestern that are also not level with the ground. This too causes a mowing hazard. 4. And the mowing along the guard rail may still be an item. I did not check this since writing you. It may have been done by now. We can put an end to all of this if someone with initiative would take a personal interest in this, walk the area, make a list of things that need to be repaired, and get them fixed. I think that if anyone used a mower on that land, they would notice the inconsistencies and hazards that I notice, and would clearly see that they exist because of the construction work. I hesitate to ask the City to do this however because it is quite possible that I am the only person who cares about getting this work finished. Wtih that in mind, if the work is not done by the time the weather cools, I am just going to do it myself. Do what you can, Kent
