ST8503-CS 870520/ CO GINN, INC. CONSI'LTING ENGINEERS May 20, 1987 Alan Ratliff, City Manager City of Coppell P. O. Box 478 Coppell, Texas 75019 Re: Bethel School Road Improvements Dear Mr. Ratliff: Bids were received on April 28, 1987, for the above referenced project. A bid tabulation has been previously sent. We have reviewed all the bids and recommend that the City of Coppell award a contract to Ed Bell Construction, 10215 Gardner Road, Dallas, Texas in the amount of $659,754.94 for construction of the Bethel School Road Improvements. It is recommended that the base bid and all three alternates be accepted. At this point in time, we do not intend to have the contractor provide the field office (Alternate 1) or the concrete walks along the south side (Alternate 2). Alternate 3, the parking area and drives near the pocket park is included because there will not be any parking allowed along Bethel School after completion. The Lone Star Gas Company began their relocation contract May 19, 1987 and expect to be finished in 30-45 days. The earliest we could expect to give a notice to proceed would be around July 1, 1987. Please take the necessary steps to place this item on the earliest Council agenda for approval. Upon receipt of your authorization we will prepare the contract documents for execution by the contractor and city. We have enclosed a cost summary sheet for this project. If you have any questions, please contact us. Sincerely, H. Wayne Ginn, P.E.
