We will provide the I ~Right-ofr.~a¥ f3gr Parkway Boulevard as requested on the Final Plat. ~owever~ we feel it inadvisable to utilize the additional ~-~ feet ~h~--~ north side of Parkway Boulevard as a future Acceleration Lane for west bound traffic. A disruptive and maybe ~-ven hazardous situation may result when traffic is Given the opportunity to accelerate and merge into a through lane shortly after a turning maneuver. Therefore we recommend that the ultimate intersection design require that traffic turning west onto Parkway Boulevard from Denton Tap Road ascertain that it is safe to merge directly into a through lane prior to completing the turning maneuver by omitting any acceleration lane adjacent to Parkway Boulevard at this location. A discussion of Acceleration and Deceleration Lanes is Given on pages~843 through 846 of A Policy on Geometric DesiGg_of HiGhwaY~ and Streets, 1984, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
