City Manager
City of Coppell
P.O. Box 478
Coppell, Texas 75019
Dear Mr. Ratliff:
I have waited much too long to write to you about the closing of the
intersection of Denton Tap Road and Meadowcreek Drive. I have a particular
concern about this because in addition to living on Mason Court which is just
one block from this important intersection, I also own Denton Tap Medical
Plaza which is on the corner of the intersection.
In pre-construction meetings about the Denton Tap Road project, we were told
that a detour would be provided and that the intersection would not be closed
at all. When it came time for the intersection to be affected by the
construction, we were told by representatives of Ginn, Inc. that the city had
given approval for the intersection to be closed over a weekend and perhaps an
additional day or two in order for it to be built without having to construct
a detour. This was supposed to be a cost saving measure for the City of
Coppell. Although we were not asked, I feel the residents of Northlake
Woodlands and the st~ffof Denton Tap ~=dical Plaza would have concurred in
the decision to close the intersection for a few days. We all understand that
some inconvenience is necessary to accommodate the progress of construction.
For those of us on the west end of Meadowcreek Drive, however, it is extremely
inconvenient and has gone far beyond the point of accommodation. ~ marks
nine weeks ,that the Denton Tap Road and Meadowcreek Drive intersection-~
~een closed.
My wife has contacted the project superintendent with L. H. Lacy Company and I
have contacted John Karlsruher with Ginn, Inc. about providing access for
Northlake Woodlands and Denton Tap Medical Plaza to Denton Tap l~Dad. Our
requests have only been answered with unfulfilled promises. I'm sure I speak
for all of Northlake Woodlands, Coppell Family Medical Center, and Coppell
Dental Center when I say that I feel our patience and understanding have been
abused. The continuation of this situation is intolerable. Contacts with the
contractor and consulting engineer have been futile. Please let me know what
can be done to get access for us to Denton Tap Road without further delay.
Very truly yours,~
